Context

  • Strong Communication skills curriculum in the Preclinical years- Physician, Patient, and Society (PPS) since 1991.
  • Course Director of PPS is on the Macy Steering Committee.
  • Title VII funded Community Faculty Development Center
    (CFDC) that Macy could collaborate with.
  • Established Standardized Patient (SP) program.

Goals

1. Refine/Enhance PPS Curriculum
2. Evaluate PPS I Curriculum
3.
Offer support to new clerkship activities
4. Improve teaching of communication skills in clinical years
5. Assess effect of teaching

Strategies

1. PPS FD Meetings to introduce new content.
2. 4 Station OSCE, faculty feedback
3. Specific Consultations
4. Workshops for Clinical Faculty (modeling, reflection in teaching, feedback)
